The benefits of exfoliation

Exfoliation is defined as the removal of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. How do you know you need exfoliation? Here is a simple test that you can do at home if you notice any dry or patchy skin; take a piece of clear sellotape place it on your forehead and rub gently, then remove. If you have a lot of dead skin it means that you need an exfoliation and masking treatment asap.

If you have dry, sensitive or mature skin, it is best to exfoliate 1-2 times a week. If you have combination to oily skin, exfoliating 2-3 times a week is recommended. Facial granular exfoliators should not be used on acne skin as they are too abrasive and can worsen the condition. Use gel exfoliators. Mask after exfoliating, using a hydrating/clearing/brightening mask suites for skin type or condition. Remember to always mask for YOUR skin’s benefit. Follow with a toner or essence, this will make your skin feel even more supple an nourished. Once again it must be for your skin type or skin condition. serum or facial oil is recommended as per preference. This added with a night time moisturizer will ensure that your skin looks radiant and healthy.

Please practice this routine as mentioned and at night only. To avoid skin sensitization which may result in the opposite effects. The other benefit is simple- when you give your skin an intense treatment at nighttime, and sleep by 10:30pm you help your skin’s cell renewal. That's about it!
